Entrances & Directions
Don't type "Chatfield State Park" into your map app: Colorado Parks and Wildlife warns it gives the wrong directions. Enter one of the park's two entrance addresses instead: 9700 S Wadsworth Blvd, Littleton, CO 80128, or 11500 N Roxborough Park Rd, Littleton, CO 80125 (the Plum Creek entrance). The park sits on the southwest edge of the Denver metro area. Every vehicle needs a park pass, sold at the entrance stations, and RVs or trailers taller than 13 feet must use the Plum Creek entrance.
Getting In at a Glance
The Two Entrances
- 9700 S Wadsworth Blvd, Littleton 80128. CPW's other GPS address, off Wadsworth. Note that the park's Deer Creek entrance has a 13-foot height limit.
- Plum Creek entrance, 11500 N Roxborough Park Rd, Littleton 80125. Also the park's mailing address. Use this one for any rig taller than 13 feet.
Where Things Are Inside the Park
- Dog Off-Leash Area: the north end of the park (Dog Off-Leash Area).
- North boat ramps: northwest side of the reservoir. South boat ramp: southeast side (Boating).
- Park office: east side, toward the middle of the reservoir, between the Heronry Picnic Area and the campground.
- Horse trailer parking, corrals and trailhead: west side, south of the Deer Creek entrance (Horseback Riding).
- Big Horn Stables: southwest of the swim beach.
- Montgolfier Balloon Port: near the Deer Creek entrance.
- Model Airplane Field: south of the campground.
- Chatfield Dam Trail: starts at the Dam Overlook parking lot; a Watchable Wildlife kiosk stands on top of the dam (Hiking & Biking).

Parking Tips
- Have your pass ready. Entrance stations sell them; self-serve stations take cash, checks and cards when no one is staffing the booth.
- The Dog Off-Leash Area has two parking lots of its own.
- Driving an EV? The one charging station is at the swim beach.
- Leave the dog leashed between the car and any trail or the off-leash gate.
Arriving Without a Car
CPW sells a $4 individual daily pass for visitors who arrive on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. The park pages don't list a bus or rail stop at an entrance, so plan on driving or riding in.
Emergencies
Call 911. The park brochure lists the nearest emergency rooms as Littleton Adventist Hospital (7700 S. Broadway) and Swedish Medical Center (6196 S. Ammons Way, off S. Wadsworth). Park rangers are trained law enforcement officers, and most staff are trained in first aid.
